It is estimated that there are more than 1000 people who work in early childhood development programs in First Nations, Inuit and Métis communities across Canada. This includes child care workers, nutritionists, teachers, Elders and parents. The ACCEL website aims to provide opportunities for ECD service providers in these communities to access information on best and promising practices and on current research and to identify and respond to the emerging needs of their children and families with timely, culturally-sensitive solutions. The ACCEL website was launched in 2004. It has recently been updated with many new practical resources for First Nations, Inuit and Métis communities, and has been reorganized to help make these valuable resources more easily accessible.
