The Edmonton Urban Aboriginal Accord Initiative
The Accord Initiative was created by the City of Edmonton and the Edmonton Aboriginal Urban Affairs Committee in response to a growing awareness of the needs and aspirations of Aboriginal Peoples residing in Edmonton.

The Ojibway and Cree Cultural Centre
is a non-profit organization that was established in 1975 under the direction of Grand Council Treaty #9, now known as the Nishnawbe Aski Nation (NAN). Explore this site and find many hands on materials such as books for all reading levels, board games, workshops and activity books. Resources are available to order/purchase in Oji-Cree, Cree, Ojibway and English.
First Nations Parents Club A Handbook for Parents
This handbook is intended to provide some general information about the structure of the school system, how to approach the school and build positive relationships help ensure that children’s needs are met, and how to create healthy learning environments at home. For simplicity, this handbook uses the term “parents.” However, the information included relates equally well to parents, family members, and other caregivers.

A fun colouring activity to help children learn more about First Nations, Métis and Inuit peoples in Canada.
Memory Game
The following is a memory game you can play with the children in your care. To use, print two (2) copies of each of the following files. Cut out the cards and lay them all out upside down on a table. Take turns selecting cards and trying to match them with the other card with the same picture. You can use these as a way to teach new words and to generate discussion about different parts of the children's culture.

Developing Culturally Focused Aboriginal Early Childhood Education Programs: A Handbook
The 23-page handbook is essential reading or educators who want to integrate Aboriginal culture into early childhood programs. The author emphasizes that culture must be considered in all aspects of a program, including governance, policies, personnel selection, facility design, and budget planning. The handbook explains each of these aspects in detail, using examples of books and songs that educators can use.
